Why choose Shuart & Associates

We get results! Shuart has placed hundreds of candidates in challenging and rewarding positions in law firms and corporate legal departments for more than a decade. Our continued success in the legal placement industry is based on long-term relationships with law firms and with those who work in the legal field. Our candidates benefit from the mutual trust that we have developed over the years with our client law firms.

We treat our candidates with respect and as individuals. While we cannot help every single applicant who contacts us, we do review and respond to every resume we receive.

What is Shuart's placement process

Changing jobs can be turbulent. We have helped hundreds of candidates like yourself make this transition. From interview preparation through post-placement follow-up, we are with you, advising you each step along the way.

We have screened thousands of resumes. We can review yours and offer suggestions to present your credentials in the best possible light.

Our placement process is multifaceted. We conduct personal, in-depth candidate interviews with the goal of determining exactly what each candidate's career interests are and how we can help locate that firm and position. We carefully match the requirements of available positions with the skills and experience of our candidates taking the "guess work" out of the process for both you and a potential employer.

We have strong relationships with our clients, and we know them well. Before an interview, we provide you with details about the interviewer, the position and its specific requirements, as well as the organization, its policies, people, and culture.

After each interview, we give you timely feedback, so you will not have to guess what the interviewer thought. We are in the unique position to be able to communicate and clarify interest levels, concerns, and questions between you and your interviewer.

When both you and a prospective employer are ready to make a commitment, we will assist in salary and benefits negotiations where appropriate. Our experience gives us the knowledge and insight to help you in these negotiations as well as with giving notice and handling a potential counteroffer.

Once you're settled in your new position, we keep in touch with you to help you get started on the right foot with your new employer.

How Shuart can help shape your career

Our consultants are not just recruiters—they are confidential advisors. We are not just filling jobs—we are creating careers. Our experienced staff is made up of objective, credentialed professionals who can give you guidance throughout your career journey.

We work hard to find the right match for both our candidates and our clients. We believe that a successful job search is achieved through a focused, targeted effort.

We understand that making a career change is a major milestone affecting your entire life—which is why our consultants spend a great deal of time getting to know about you, your needs, and your goals. They view your career in the long-term. If we don't have the right match for you today, we may find it at some point in the future.

Occasionally, a candidate's experience level, skills, or academic background does not match the requirements of our client companies. If we determine that we cannot help you, we will tell you why and will offer suggestions for other job search resources.

Confidentiality and Control

Confidentiality during a career change is mission critical and an issue that Shuart & Associates takes very seriously. We are committed to speaking carefully and accurately, and we act only with the full authorization of the individuals we represent. Your name or resume will not be presented to a third party without your prior, express approval.

Resumes that are mailed or faxed en masse to law firms or companies, either by an individual or by another staffing firm, rarely reach the eyes of a decision maker. We present you and your credentials directly to those hiring authorities who will make the call.

Who pays the placement fee

Shuart's candidates pay no fees. Our clients compensate us to identify and screen topnotch individuals. Fees are pre-negotiated with potential employers before the search process begins and have absolutely no impact on a candidate's negotiated salary.

Unlike some search firms whose recruiters are driven by commission, our consultants are salaried. They are not motivated by recruiting in volume, but rather by providing excellent service to our clients and candidates alike.

How do I apply for a position through Shuart

It's easy!! The fastest way to start the process is to call our office or e-mail your resume to info@shuart.com. Of course, we accept resumes via postal mail as well.

Your experience and qualifications will be reviewed and, once we ensure we can help in your job search, a personal interview with one of our consultants can be arranged.

In preparation for your interview, you may be asked to complete an application or provide other information. Click here for a further explanation.

Why work as a contract employee

Working on a contract basis can sometimes bridge the gap between education and experience. To qualify as a contract employee, your skills, experience, and availability are all taken into consideration. Our thorough testing and interview process will help us evaluate your qualifications for contract positions, and when appropriate, consider you for direct hire positions as well.

Contract employees enjoy variety in the firms where they work and scheduling flexibility. Working contract-to-hire gives you the opportunity to get to know a firm before making a long-term commitment.

The benefits of being a Shuart contract employee include top hourly pay rates, weekly pay, holiday/vacation bonuses, and monthly luncheon meetings featuring interesting speakers.

Responses to inquiries

We respond to all client and candidate inquiries whether received via e-mail, postal mail, fax, voice mail, or telephone. If you have sent correspondence or other communication and have not received an acknowledgment, we may not have received it. Firewalls may block e-mail; postal mail can be lost or delayed; faxes and voice mail may appear to have been received but may be "lost" due to technical problems. Your inquiries are very important to us! If you do not receive a response within a reasonable time, please call us at (504) 836-7595.
